At MCK we breed for Old Family Red (OFR) American Pitbull Terriers.
Of all the great lines and strains of APBT, it was OFR that captured Rick’s attention with its high drive, gameness, beautiful colors, and family oriented temperament.
A lot of today’s Pitbull’s are bred for over exaggerated features: size, weight, head proportions, etc.
MCK wants to ensure that the original APBT continues to exist in its true form for generations to come. To do this we have sought out dogs from quality lines and partner with kennels that are producing high quality OFL dogs. We evaluate dogs for confirmation, temperament, and sociability. While dog aggression is a part of this breeds past, that is where MCK wants to leave it – the past.
We selectively breed for dogs that are not dog aggressive with the hopes of producing a line of dogs that are known for the physical superiority in the field, tenacious love for their family, and low dog aggression. They will always be strong dogs that will not be ‘bullied’ or dominated but if not provoked they should live peaceably with other dogs – especially if raised with other dogs as a puppy.
